After by Chalifour

After, the story of a 15 year old, whose father has committed suicide, is told in a very real way. Francis asks the same questions as many do following a death. Should I have done something different to help? Could I have done something different to help? Why didn't I?

I work in an inner city school and wonder how this book may affect those who have experienced this terrible tragedy.

Hi Marge,
No, I am just beginning to promote the Snow Willow nominees with each of my senior classrooms so it will take awhile to know the verdict as to whether they like After or not. I will certainly be highly recommending it as not only a good read but also in my opinion an effective way to learn about the stages of grief that most if not all people will travel through at some point in their lives. A great teaching tool. Will it have the same appeal to our senior readers as it appears to with adults? I'll keep you "posted".

Hello Marge,

Congratulations! Your blog looks terrific!

I also liked After. It is emotionally powerful. The author's grief following the unexpected death seeps from the pages.

You've arrived!! After is one of my favorites of the Snow Willow choices. I really liked it but again I don't know how the students will react. I haven't had anyone come back yet and give me an opinion but I am looking forward to hearing their feedback. Emotionally powerful!
